Discover Gite de Frenes: Your Normandy escape

Welcome to Gite de Frenes, where tranquility meets authentic Normandy charm. Learn more about our unique holiday home, the experience we offer, and the beautiful surroundings that await you.

Why Gite de Frenes is your perfect retreat

Gîte de Frênes offers that rare mix of calm, comfort, and authenticity you don’t always find in bigger hotels. Nestled in the Normandy countryside, it feels like a proper escape—quiet surroundings, fresh air, and space to actually unwind.

The charm of a gîte is in its independence. You’re not tied to hotel schedules, so you can wake up late, cook your own meals with local ingredients, and settle into a rhythm that feels natural. We've added thoughtful touches to make you feel welcomed rather than just accommodated.

When guests stay at Gîte de Frênes, the goal is for them to feel an immediate sense of calm—as if they’ve stepped out of their busy routines and into a place where time slows down. From the moment they arrive, it should feel welcoming, comfortable, and easy, like a home they can settle into without effort.

The house is run as a bed & breakfast from January to May & from June to September as a holiday home so you can enjoy the area with your family & friends. There are 4 bedrooms all with en-suite facilities spread out on 2 floors, so can accommodate up to 8 people so there is plenty of space to relax.

Experience true relaxation and reconnection

Discover local treasures and activities

Gite de Frenes is a great base for exploring the region. Being in Normandy means you’re within reach of beautiful landscapes, historic sites, and local markets, but you still come back to somewhere peaceful at the end of the day. Here are some of our top recommendations:

  • Nature & outdoor experiences: Lake Dathée (10–15 minutes away) for swimming, walking, cycling, sailing, and kayaking. Saint-Sever Forest for quiet woodland walks and wildlife spotting. Gorges de la Rouvre for dramatic landscapes and hiking.
  • Adventure & active days: Suisse Normande (about 30 minutes away) for hiking, cycling, canoeing, and rock climbing. Souleuvre Viaduct for bungee jumping, zip lines, and a summer toboggan run.
